NAJIB FIRST PM WHO LISTENS

PETALING JAYA: Former DAP vice-president Tunku Abdul Aziz today heaped praises on Najib Tun Razak as the first prime minister who listens and acts on the concerns of the rakyat.

He cited Najib’s Government Transformation Programme (GTP) as an example and said the premier was the first among all the prime ministers who actively listened to his people.

“I support Najib because at [age] 79, I have seen a lot of prime ministers, and he is the first prime minister who listens to all of our concerns,” Tunku Aziz told reporters today.

“The GTP is something that will benefit the country in the economic, political and social spheres,” said Tunku Aziz, and went on to criticise Pakatan Rakyat for rubbishing it.

“They (Pakatan) are opposing for the sake of opposing. It is not mature politics. The elements in Najib’s GTP are exactly what they have been fighting for,” he claimed.

“But when the policies are implemented, they call it rubbish,” said the former Transparency International vice-chairman.

‘Malaysia will be great’

Tunku Aziz said that the entire GTP programme “is a process, not a product”.

“It will take a little time to see results, but mark my words if it is supported, Malaysia will be a great and globally competitive country.”

He also dismissed allegations that he was now an Umno-BN man, and insisted his ambition has always been to keep corruption to a manageable level.

He also stressed the importance of nationality over race, be it in BN or Pakatan.

“We have to be truthful and honest, and we have to love our country,” he said. “We have to have a country where all people are given equal opportunity.

“We are still a community of different tribes,” he said. “The aim is to have a nation promote the concept of 1Malaysia.”

Calon Melayu dalam DAP kalah teruk dan ditolak pada pemilihan Jawatankuasa Eksekutif Pusat (CEC) hujung minggu lalu adalah disebabkan ahli parti tersebut belum bersedia menerima orang Melayu dalam kepimpinan mereka.

Bekas Naib Pengerusi DAP Kebangsaan, Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim berkata, sebelum ini beliau pernah membawa beberapa isu yang melibatkan orang Melayu, namun pemimpin DAP tidak boleh menerima isu-isu tersebut serta tidak ikhlas menerima orang Melayu dalam parti yang didakwa berbilang kaum itu.

Kata Tunku Abdul Aziz, ideologi 'Malaysian Malaysia' yang diperjuangkan DAP selama ini hanyalah retorik sahaja.

“DAP masih belum bersedia untuk terima Melayu dalam kepimpinan parti mereka. Apa yang dikatakan hanya cakap-cakap kosong sahaja.

“Tidak perlu tipu orang lagi khususnya orang Melayu. Orang Melayu tidak bodoh.  Memang tidak ada Malaysian Malaysia itu,” katanya kepada Sinar Harian, semalam.

Beliau juga menafikan kenyataan bekas ahli CEC, Zulkifli Mohd Noor yang mendakwa peletakan jawatannya sebagai punca Melayu tidak dipilih untuk menganggotai 20 kerusi CEC.

“Salah saya kah? Itu persepsinya saja, bukan saya punca DAP tidak boleh terima Melayu. Kalau dia (Zulkifli) kalah, itu bukan kerana saya. Tidak logik langsung, tetapi ikut suka dialah mahu kata apa.

"Saya keluar parti kerana DAP telah tipu saya, dan saya sudah tidak ada persefahaman dengan parti itu. Takkan saya tidak boleh keluar?  Ketika saya di dalam parti sudah tiga kali saya ingin keluar parti tetapi mereka (DAP) pujuk," katanya.

Zulkilfli sebelum ini dilaporkan mendakwa konsep parti berbilang kaum yang ditekankan DAP sejak 47 tahun itu masih belum sampai kerana mesej tersebut tidak ditransformasikan kepada keputusan pemilihan, kelmarin.

Pada Kongres Kebangsaan DAP yang berlangsung di Bayan Baru, minggu lalu menyaksikan Karpal Singh berjaya mengekalkan kedudukannya sebagai Pengerusi Kebangsaan DAP dalam pemilihan CEC 2012-2015.

Begitu juga dengan jawatan Setiausaha Agung, masih dipegang Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang, Lim Guan Eng.
